I’m deep in a mountainous forest these days, surrounded by gypsies and god things and a poor guy who doesn’t know what he wants or where he’s going.\u00c2\u00a0 But he’s got a compass, so it can’t all be bad, can it?<\/p>\n

Necropolis<\/em> is readier and readier to go, and when the time is right a proper announcement shall be made.<\/p>\n There are rumblings about a Midnight story.\u00c2\u00a0 Seriously.\u00c2\u00a0 More news on that soon.<\/p>\n I’ve written a handful of awful poems.\u00c2\u00a0 My hope, of course, is that one among them is decent, and that when I gather a bunch of the decent ones from a group of these bunches, that perhaps one will rise among all others good.\u00c2\u00a0 I’m working toward excellent, but I honestly don’t devote much time to poetry.\u00c2\u00a0 It simply happens when it happens.<\/p>\n There’s a poem in that mountainy foresty novel I mentioned above.<\/p>\n There’s also an assassin, an underworld boss, a cop, a gang, a museum, and a ghost.\u00c2\u00a0 Oh, and a mirror.\u00c2\u00a0 Mustn’t forget that.\u00c2\u00a0 All part of the same book, but different parts, and those aren’t the parts where I found myself working today.<\/p>\n For those keeping track, wings of the butterfly<\/em> won absolutely zero awards, and the publisher is upset.\u00c2\u00a0 He said so on a message board somewhere.\u00c2\u00a0 I read it.\u00c2\u00a0 It must be true.\u00c2\u00a0 The Internet would never lie to me.\u00c2\u00a0 {wicked grin}<\/p>\n I think I acquired a new First Reader today.\u00c2\u00a0 These are invaluable persons who assist in the early stages of a novel, before it ever gets packaged up and shipped off to a publisher and\/or editor.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s a rare post, to be honest, and it’s not a role you can actually apply for.\u00c2\u00a0 You’ve got to be chosen.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ve been a First Reader myself.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s not always easy.\u00c2\u00a0 And sometimes, it wears down the blue pens.<\/p>\n Yes, I use blue pens when I edit and revise.\u00c2\u00a0 Always do.\u00c2\u00a0 Red reminds me too much of high school.\u00c2\u00a0 Black blends too easily with the ink from the printer.<\/p>\n I’ll be packing up the whole office in a few short weeks, transporting the pieces, and re-assembling them in some new variation.\u00c2\u00a0 Wish me luck.<\/p>\n How’s your writing going?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
