There are damselflies beneath me.<\/p>\n

There’s a cracked treet stump off the left side of the frame.\u00c2\u00a0 Not particularly good for sitting.<\/p>\n

There’s a trickling stream.\u00c2\u00a0 (I’ve stood in said stream before; in places, it’s almost as deep as the sole of my shoe.)<\/p>\n

Clouds are playing games with the sun and keeping it from view, though there’s almost as much blue as white.
\nPromised storms make no promises to rage.<\/p>\n

There are, perhaps, only two red flowers.<\/p>\n

Dusk is still hours away; these are the long, hot summer days.<\/p>\n

(I did say hot, yes?)<\/p>\n

All the green makes me want salad with dinner.\u00c2\u00a0 There will be salad.<\/p>\n

There will also be sausage.\u00c2\u00a0 I am not a vegeterian.<\/p>\n

But at the moment, at this particular snap of the lens, there is only me, and the damselfies, and the trees, and a quiet stirring that wants to be a breeze when it grows up.<\/p>\n

Tonight, there will be no thunder.\u00c2\u00a0 There will be only “heat” lightning, or the reflections of some faraway lightnings.\u00c2\u00a0 There will be no rain.\u00c2\u00a0 The heat will not relent.\u00c2\u00a0 But I will always remember the things I see, standing where I am in this frame, that you cannot.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
