\nUpon a time, a thousand carousels marked the landscape. Every town and every village had at least one of which they were proud.<\/p>\n

Not all were manned by horses.<\/p>\n

But then a dark age settled upon the land.<\/p>\n

The horses were slaughtered for their meat.\u00c2\u00a0 The carousels stopped going round.\u00c2\u00a0 They were dismantled, and the wood used as fuel for the winter fires.<\/p>\n
