As I said previously, I intend to start doing portraits over the next year.\u00c2\u00a0 Technically, I’ve already started.\u00c2\u00a0 As such, I’ve been looking at the work of various photographers with an eye toward what they are doing and how they are doing it–to see what I like and what I don’t like.\u00c2\u00a0 There’s a lot more to learn.<\/p>\n

But understand this: I mean “portrait” in the broadest sense, and intend to explore all options.\u00c2\u00a0 From formal sittings to man-on-the-street to high fashion to infants to casual to everything else I can think of.<\/p>\n

One photographer whose work I like is on FlickR: Jingna Zhang, aka zenmotion.\u00c2\u00a0 What do I like?\u00c2\u00a0 The color.\u00c2\u00a0 The sharpness.\u00c2\u00a0 The attitude.\u00c2\u00a0 I also love the fact that one of her photographs (with the violin) seems to have been extracted directly from one of my books.\"More<\/p>\n

Is hers the direction I want to go?\u00c2\u00a0 I don’t know.\u00c2\u00a0 This is an exploration.\u00c2\u00a0 I hope you’ll support my journey with your thoughts, comments, and criticisms.\u00c2\u00a0 I have some ideas of where I want to go with my photography, but it’s all very basic.\u00c2\u00a0 I have ideas of where I want to go with my writing, too, and 2010 will see a couple of steps in the right direction (steps that have been announced and\/or steps that have been kept hidden).<\/p>\n
