The creek runs swiftly.
There’s mud all around.
You slip beneath the bridge
but still hear the sound
of whatever it is advancing
coming after you.
Get off the travelled path.
There’s nothing else to do.
(Okay, as far as poetry goes, it’s not particularly good; I don’t think it even qualifies as decent. But it rhymes!)
I can go back to the goatee.
I can go back to the clean shaven me.
Or I can keep this about where it is now.

There are damselflies beneath me.
There’s a cracked treet stump off the left side of the frame. Not particularly good for sitting.
