Paper Cranes
Thursday, May 22nd, 2008Every once in a while, you should do something you’ve never done.
A week or so ago, I folded a paper crane. My first tiny bit of origami. It’s quite short of magnificent, but it’s still interesting, and an amazingly keen sense of accomplishment.
Go do something you’ve never done. Let me know how it went.
Joyrides
Thursday, May 22nd, 2008A quick check of the news is unnecessary. Every time I stop at a gas station, I know the top story of the day. I’ve never paid so much for the privilege of driving. Unfortunately, for my day job, it’s a requirement, so I’ll continue to cry as I fill the tank and I’ll continue […]
Violins
Sunday, May 18th, 2008Check out the Now Playing section, today featuring at least two women with violins.
Coincidence?
Am I listening to women with violins because of the scene in House of Shadow and Ash, or did the scene happen because I listen to women with violins?
Do I only listen to women with violins? Do I only listen to women […]
Where do you find inspiration?
Sunday, May 18th, 2008Inspiration is simple, really.
Look around. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you feel? What do you think? Can none of these things inspire you?
I admit, I’ve gone on “inspirational research” trips, like when I spent the day at Rockwood Necropolis, starting with an image and a […]
Inspiration
Saturday, May 17th, 2008Today, I gave a speech.
I do this quite frequently, actually, being a member of Toastmasters, where I am expected to give an impromptu speech just about every week and a prepared speech with some regularity. (For those who know, today was my tenth speech, completing my basic manual. Yay me!)
The speech was supposed […]
Overdue for an Entry
Tuesday, May 13th, 2008There are lots of things I ought to be telling you about. My weekend at the beach. The photo shoot. The fact that I read Tom Piccirilli’s The Cold Spot in little more than a day (I’m a notoriously slow reader) and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. That I enjoyed Iron Man and, […]
Now Playing
Monday, May 5th, 2008Maybe an incomplete list, and perhaps infrequently changed and/or updated, but there it is.
Same with Now Reading, which will likely have Shogun for a long while, and will sometimes entirely miss some of the things I read, and may sometimes show nothing, say when I’m reading something you’re not supposed to know I’m reading.
What could […]
The New Site
Sunday, May 4th, 2008So, the basics are up and running, though the details are yet to be established. There are a few spots where post-construction clean-up hasn’t yet happened, a few extras that are still awaiting arrival from the factories, and though the paint seems to be mostly okay, there’s quite a bit of art yet to be […]
Making Progress
Sunday, May 4th, 2008Not everything is working as it should, and a lot of pages are empty, but progress is being reported on most fronts…
Is this thing on?
Saturday, May 3rd, 2008Work in progress. Ignore everything (except this post). Come back tomorrow. Thanks.
